  Serves: makes 17 1/2 cups

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 qt. cranberry-juice cocktail
1 1/2 cups lemon juice
2 cups orange juice
2 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
ice ring
56 oz. ginger ale or 7-Up

1. Combine sugar and water in small saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Cover and boil over low heat about 5 minutes.

2. Let syrup cool to room temperature, then combine with the cranberry-juice cocktail, lemon juice, orange juice and pineapple juice.

3. Cover and chill.

4. Just before serving, place ice ring in the punch bowl.

5. Pour in juice mixture. Ladle the punch concentrate over the ice until thoroughly chilled.

6. Carefully pour ginger ale or 7-Up down side of bowl to avoid bursting the bubbles.
