Ingredients
1/4 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder (optional)
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
1. Butter a dish for finished candy.

2. Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium saucepan, except for the vanilla.

3. Stir over medium heat and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes or until a small amount forms a soft ball in cold water.

4. Remove from heat and add the vanilla.

5. Set in cold water and let stand until cool enough to rest bottom of pan on your hand.

6. Beat until thick enough to hold shape and fudge loses its gloss.

7. Pour into greased dish or pan. Cut into squares.
