Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup water
2 Tbsp. butter
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla or other extract
food coloring
Instructions
1. Combine ingredients, except vanilla and color, in 2 quart saucepan.

2. Cook on high heat to hard ball stage, about 265 deg on a candy thermometer.

3. Take off heat, stir in flavoring and food coloring.

4. Pour out onto buttered surface, work until cool enough to handle.

5. Pull until it turns silvery and hardens. Twist as you turn.

6. Break into pieces.
