Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, margarine, or shortening
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs, well beaten
3-4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt (omit if butter or margaring used)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. baking powder
Instructions
1. Cream sugar and butter.

2. Add beaten eggs. Add molasses. Beat until sugar dissolves.

3. Fold in 3 cups of flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and baking powder.  Mix until uniform in color.

4. Add remaining flour if needed, but don''t make dough too stiff.

5. Form into 2 balls of dough. Refrigerate for several hours or over night.

6. Roll each ball about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into men (or whatever shape is desired).

7. Heat oven to 350 deg. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until done.

NOTE: If making house, roll dough out on an greased piece of foil the size of your baking sheets. Place on baking sheets and bake at 350 deg for 20 to 25 minutes until it''s a nice brown. Cut while warm.
