Ingredients
3/4 lb. chuck beef, cut up
3/4 lb. beef soup bones or leftover roast bones
1 peeled minced onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 qts. cold water
1 cup dried lentils, washed
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Instructions
1. Place chuck beef, beef soup bones, minced onion, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and cold water in kettle.

2. Cover and bring to boil. Skim.

3. Simmer, covered, 4 1/2 hours.

4. Strain mixture.

5. Remove meat and shred it, then return to soup.

6. Add lentils, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper.

7. Simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours, or until lentils are tender.
